Regional Rail Intermodal Solution

While CEO at Bowmans Rail between 2015 and 2019 Scott was involved in the regional rail intermodal solution securing the freight for a solar project.

Background

The project required in excess of 900,000 solar panels and electrical and construction materials to be imported through Port Adelaide. The 3000 containers were supplied over nine months and had to be inspected by AQIS, transferred 280km to site, unpacked and the containers returned to Bowmans for reusing by exporters within 20 days.

The Challenge

With up to 150 containers per week were there was not sufficient capacity for road trains and highway capacity to meet the demands on road.

The Solution

Development of the 5,200 square metre Port Augusta Intermodal by Bowmans Rail. He first intermodal in the region.
Semi-trailer access to the intermodal; 24/7 operation; capacity of 3,000 containers p.a.
